FAQ

What are the main differences between the Deluxe & Travel Pro?

Are the Vertical Extender Set pieces compatible with both the Deluxe & Travel Pro?

Technically yes, and actually the 18 inch extender is one of the Travel Pro parts.

In order to make the Travel Pro fit in carry-on size bag, we used a shorter tripod base, with a smaller footprint, and made an 18" piece to screw in place during customer assembly.

Then we realized in product testing, that extended piece could be added to the Deluxe Model for taller people or long gowns. So we decided to sell it as an optional add on.

However, we tested adding extension pieces to the Travel Pro, but due to its smaller tripod base footprint, the additional height made it not as stable.

So if you need the extra height, we recommend purchasing the Deluxe Model and the Vertical Extender Set.

What are the dimensions of each model when stored in their bag?

Why steam?

Steaming clothes is often preferred over ironing because it is gentler on fabrics, especially delicate materials, and less likely to damage them, according to Apartment Therapy.

Steam also provides a more versatile and efficient way to remove wrinkles, often without the need for an ironing board or direct contact with heat, as explained by SteamOne.

  • Gentler on Fabrics: Steaming utilizes steam to relax and de-wrinkle fabrics without the direct pressure and heat of an iron, which can sometimes cause wear and tear, according to a post on Quora. This is particularly beneficial for delicate materials like silk, wool, and cashmere, which can be damaged by direct heat.

  • Reduced Risk of Damage: Steamers don't come into direct contact with the fabric, minimizing the risk of burning or creating unwanted creases, says The Spruce

  • Versatile & Convenient: Steamers can be used on a variety of fabrics, including those that are not ironable, and they offer a more convenient solution for removing wrinkles from clothes in a hanging position, according to The Laundress.

  • Freshening & Disinfecting: Steam can also lift surface dirt and odors, acting as a natural disinfectant and effectively freshening up garments, notes The Laundress

  • Easier & Faster to Use: Steaming often requires less technique and preparation than ironing, with no need for an ironing board or extensive practice, according to Apartment Therapy

In contrast, ironing can be more time-consuming, requires more effort, and can pose a higher risk of damaging delicate fabrics or creating unwanted creases. While ironing is still a valuable tool for creating sharp creases, steaming offers a more versatile and gentle approach for removing wrinkles from a wider range of fabrics, according to Crompton.

How is The Steamer Stand® different than the competition?

The Steamer Stand® is different because it was designed to be THE garment steaming partner with its function and features PATENTED and trademarked.

What garment steamers do you recommend?

Good question! There are so many great ones out there and everyone's needs vary. Therefore, here are some features to consider:

Essential Features:

  • Steam Output: Higher wattage and steam flow rate (g/min) mean more steam, faster wrinkle removal, and better results on thicker fabrics.

  • Heat-up Time: A quick heat-up time saves valuable time, especially if you're in a hurry.

  • Runtime: A longer runtime allows you to steam multiple items before refilling the water tank.

  • Water Tank Capacity & Refill Ease: A larger water tank provides longer steaming time, while easy refill features are convenient.

  • Water Type: Check the steamer's instructions to see if it requires distilled water or if tap water is okay.

  • Cord Length: A longer cord provides more flexibility when steaming without an extension cord, especially if you're working with larger items or based on your height.

  • Safety Features: Look for auto shut-off and safe-to-touch handles.

Additional Considerations:

  • Portable & Compact: For travel, or if you are limited on space, consider a compact and lightweight steamer.

  • Multi-Fabric Versatility: Ensure the steamer can handle various fabrics, including delicates.

  • Attachments: Some steamers come with attachments for specific uses, like a brush for removing lint or a fabric guard for delicates.

  • Ease of Use: Look for a user-friendly design with clear water level indicators and a comfortable ergonomic grip.
